Body Horror.
These are some sketches I did recently while working on a story arc for Mindpuss Volume 2. The good news is that these two beauties will definitely be turning up in the forthcoming issue, the bad news is that I've realised that some of the older pages I've drawn are as shit as the day is long and so I'll be re-drawing them, which will in turn push back the release date of Vol. 2.
In other news, the worst band in the world have released their newest video, (which I directed and am still awaiting payment) can be seen here:

Joey
Here is a painting I completed last week of a baby Kangaroo, Aboriginal style! I hung out with a lovely bunch of indigenous tribesmen for a whole weekend in the Adelaide Hills and they showed me, amongst other things, the fine art of dot painting...
I finally got my studio space sorted out with essentials for continuing my ridiculous odyssey. All my stuff, including all my art supplies, arrived from Ireland so I'm back in action once again.

To the Moon, soon.
This is a quick sketch I did for NASA back in the day. It was for an experimental toasted sandwich maker which would only work once the ejector seat had been deployed, during a crash/breakup scenario. The theory was that the astronaut would be peckish during the descent stage and might need a snack- this would also be a delightful way to pass the time. NASA still owe me a few US$ for the design...
In other news, I've put up my 24hr comic that I did for the Anthology, which you can see here. I should also have my 24 hour effort which I did on the day of the challenge finally up next week.

See Ya After
So I've been in Australia for 2 weeks now. It feels like I've always been here, which is a good sign. The weather is good, not too hot just yet, but sunny and dry. Food, drink, rent, and other things such as arts and crafts materials are bloody cheap. We're moving into a new house this week, so should have office/studio set up soon after so I'm really looking forward to resuming my comic-ing/drawing. It's great here and I love it.
Anyway, just before i left, I met up with a few friends for last drinks before I headed off. Good ol' Paddy Lynch was there and presented me with the best present that I could ever have asked for - A going away book compilation, put together by cardboard press, and with original drawings from non other than Phil Barrett, Katie Blackwood, Bob Byrne, Cathal Duggan, Paddy Lynch and Gar Shanley. I was bowled over and I want to take this opportunity to thank all the above for such an amazing gesture and that I'm a lucky man to have contributions from such talent collected in a cardboard press book! The pictures above are posted in the order that they appeared in the book.
Thanks mates! Strewth!

24 Hour Madness!!
G'day from the southern Hemisphere. Well I made it safe and sound to Adelaide and have been settling in nicely for the past week. The flight was a super mega mind fuck and I don't recommend it unless you're drugged up sufficiently. Anyway it's all good and i'm pretty much over the jetlag now so roll on new life down here. I've been into 2 of the 4 main comic stores in the city, and already have some Mindpuss Vol.1 in the bigger shop. There is a great comic scene down here and look forward to infiltrating it as soon as I can...
I hooked up with the crew (via webcam) in the Central Hotel over the weekend who were doing the 24hr challenge. Was great to see everyone busying away at the comics in the background, and very weird. I chose to do 'Once you get inside, you'll never get out' from the random title generator. I managed to do a couple of pages during the day, with a little help from my new friends "Mercury Cider" and "Beez Neez Beer"-but still got a few to do before it's finished. I'll scan them and get them up on the site as soon as I get a scanner sorted.

Up to no good.
These two charming kids are popping up in Mindpuss Vol. 2. What are their names, where do they live, what are they going to do next next? I don't really know, suffice it to say that it might get ugly around here...
Oh yeah, I did a short telephone interview with those handsome giglers, Liam & Craig over at The Comic Cast, in a final chat before I head off to Oz. So head over and give it a listen.

Card from Hilbo
Longstoner and hip-hopster Hilbo sent me a going away card last week which is as awesome as going away cards get! This is weird because this is pretty much what happened to me one day, about a year ago... Anyway thanks again Hilbo!

Note to Me
Dearest Phil sent me a rather excellent Note last week and I just want to publicly thank him for the supreme effort put into this particular note. The weird thing is that I can identify with Lester 100%. Thanks again Philo.
In other news, me and Mindpuss will be heading of to Adelaide for the foreseeable future on the 11thOct 2009. Volume 2 has been put on hiatus and I will be finishing it up hopefully in November or thereabouts. No doubt it will have an Australian flavour of sorts. This will also mean that I'll be missing the 24hour comic challenge which is a pisser, however I shall be partaking nonetheless and aim to hook up with the crew in the central hotel via webcam! It will be fun...

Free Paintings!
I've been doing a bit of clear out of my brain as well as my office and I've decided to give away some oil paintings that I did a few years back. I like them, but just need to make room so i'm giving them away to anyone who may be interested. Unfortunately I can't ship them anywhere but would be more than happy to meet up somewhere in Dublin. Anyway, perhaps no-one will want them, in which case they'll be chucked out...

What is it? Really?
I've put the new 'Children's Book' up on the site for all to see. Since I had such a limited print which ran out almost immediately, I figured it was about time to chuck it up here. I may or may not do a deluxe version before the year is out, complete with hard cover and interactive board game. Anyway, you can READ IT HERE so enjoy every last drop of it. Oh yeah, those lovable gigglers Liam & Craig gave it the thumbs up on their new Comic Cast so have a listen

What is it?
Front cover of my new 'childrens' book which will be out for the Edition Book Arts fair on the 4th July in Film Base. This book is a heart felt story of curiosity, intrigue, and mystery which follows the antics of two lovable muts, James & Dagmar in their quest to find out "what is it". The results are both hilarious and horrifying...
20 pages full colour, this 1st edition will be limited to a meager 20 copies. 4 Euro each, and with every copy will come an original drawing from the book- eg, buy number 12/20 get original drawing of page 12, and so on. Wow, what a bargain!!
Thanks to all the folks who bought stuff from me at the 2D festival at the weekend! Was a great day all in all, and also special thanks to the lovable Longstone Comic people who kept a beady eye on my table whilst on coffee breaks!

Salvo'd
I received a healthy package in the post during the week from none other than the amazing Salvo. Check out these two sketches: looks like some sort of fucked up wedding photo and then afterwards the threesome that went down. I got this and some other gems like 'The Apparatus Lady' amongst others. He's swapping stuff with other cartoonists so head over to his site and send him an email if you want to do same, (which I highly recommend).
Also got first glimpse of the new Windell Comics Superhero Showcase by himself and Gar Shanley (of Fugger fame). It's a work of genius and should be bought by EVERY member of Ireland when it comes out. Reading this is like eating Broccoli, Bananas and a Rusk (all super foods I believe) in that your left feeling satisfied, full and bewildered. Launch of this wonderful work of genius will be on the 8th May in Anseo, Wexford Street, so bring money.

Crescent Moon
Those wonderful boys over on The Comic Cast have stuck up their Podcast that myself, Paddy & Katie and Phil recorded last week. Was great fun and I enjoyed talking incoherent shite for the evening.
I drew this guy from memory when I got home from the recording session as I'm sure he was scuttling down one of the laneways near Padddy's house.

Cousin Beatrice
I had another nightmare last night- my cousin Beatrice was really sick and then got attacked by a super bug of sorts, and then was ok, but had to put up with some ugly side effects.
Had an amazing time at the Mindpuss Vol. 1 launch last Thursday and so a huge thanks to everybody who came out to show their support.
Beautiful.
